Crime

Cities with rich history and vibrant culture can make for a lot of fun, but, unfortunately, this does not mean they are always safe. In San Antonio, Texas, crime happens in any neighborhood. In March 2013, on the north side of San Antonio, an elderly woman answered the door and found a man she recognized as her exterminator standing on her porch, though she had not made an appointment with him. The exterminator asked to use the restroom. However, the man had two people with him: a man and a woman who were later identified as drifters from Indiana. Before she was able to react, the three forced their way into her home and held a gun to her head. They demanded that she give them her jewelry. The exterminator took everything she handed over to their getaway car. Police were able to chase them down and arrest them. Crimes like these are unfortunate, but many of them are also preventable. A home security system can act as a deterrent to any would-be thieves. A security system cannot prevent every crime, but it can be an extra step for a robber to overcome.
