A Sedona man was arrested and charged with setting several vehicles ablaze late Monday night. Police were called to various areas of the city to find at least four cars set on fire. In each incidence, a gasoline-soaked object was hanging from the gas tank of the cars. The owner of one of stolen vehicles named the suspect as the person most likely to have burned his vehicle. The man was questioned but denied all involvement in the arson. The Sedona Police Department continued to investigate and find evidence linking the suspect to the fires. The man whose vehicle was stolen also had his wallet stolen by the suspect; it was found by an excavation crew. Just as police were going to issue an arrest warrant, the suspect called in and confessed to all four fires. The man was arrested and is being held at the Yavapai Sheriff's Department without bond. If convicted, the man could face up to ten years in prison. The investigation is still open and anyone with information is urged to contact authorities immediately. Authorities say that arson is a crime that doesn't often occur in Sedona. In fact recent crime in Sedona, Arizona overall has dropped to an all-time low. (Source: 22 October 2013.)
