Annual Crime Rates in
Pensacola, Florida

Florida crime rates are through the roof, and Pensacola crime is no exception. But sometimes the criminals are just so stupid that they feel the need to go back to a school environment for some education. In a recent conviction, two suspects were found guilty of breaking into not one but over 50 school maintenance trucks while they were parked on municipal grounds. It's not clear whether they thought they would get charged with only one count of burglary, like in a 50-for-one deal, but the judge clearly did not see it that way. Like the greedy thieves that they were, the criminals made their way through the parked trucks, stealing tools, cell phone, laptops, GPS navigation systems, radios, spare change and anything else they could carry. Except that they couldn't carry all the loot. So they stole one of the trucks as well. They stuffed it with their stolen merchandise, and drove off, thinking they were clever. Then they got caught. The police used the GPS tracking devices that were in the stolen cellphones to locate the vehicle and its two unsuspecting occupants. The crooks had left behind a digital trail of breadcrumbs that led authorities straight to them. (Source: Pensacola News Journal. July 26, 2013)
