Do I Have to Be a Homeowner to Get a Home Security System?
Technically, you don’t have to be a homeowner to get home security. The only stipulation for renters is that you might need to get permission from your landlord. Also, what you’re actually renting (a small apartment vs. a house) might determine whether or not you can install a system.
What Happens If I Move?
Moving doesn’t necessarily mean you have to change your plan or stop working with your home security provider. When you initially have a home security system installed, you’re required to pay an installation fee, and you might be hesitant about paying for installation twice—or more—when you move. With our security, we make moving as simple as making a phone call to customer service. Moving shouldn’t affect your sense of security, and we want to make sure you know how the process works if you’re considering a location switch.
I’m Moving and Installing a New Monitored Home Security System. Will I Be Responsible for Two Separate Bills?
Whenever you notify us that you’re moving and want to discontinue service at your current location, you will be billed for the following 30 days, just like you’re billed for rent a month after you tell your landlord or property management company that you plan to discontinue the lease. These 30 days gives us time to process the cancellation. However, if you install a new system at your new home, you can call in to determine what your prorated refund will be. That means you will never pay double for your home security system.
